Serious health conditions for striking detainees and transferring them to civil hospitals

The Media Committee of the strike confirmed that the health condition of striking detainees for the 36th day respectively is becoming very serious and requires effective procedures to save their lives, especially after transferring many of them to the civil hospitals due to their critical health conditions.
The Media Committee pointed out that the prisons' administration isolating the striking detainees from the outside world and putting obstacles in front of their families and human rights organizations to prevent them from knowing the health conditions of striking detainees.
The committee also said, according to testimonies of striking detainees, that the prisons' administration has established field clinics before the strike began, which lack the basic medical equipment. Moreover, in these clinics, detainees
are offered to be treated in return for ending the strike, where doctors offer food to bargain them.
The Committee added that the prisons' administration has recently transferred all striking detainees to prisons close to hospitals, following the worsening health situation of them.
The Media Committee of the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners' Society called on the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the World Health Organization and the Physicians for Human Rights to compel the occupation government to preserve the lives of striking detainees to prevent a real catastrophe, and to demand precise information about their health conditions. It also confirms that the prisons' doctors and
the Israeli Prisons Service are fully responsible for the striking detainees' lives.
