Israel approved 1,000 illegal settlement units on Wednesday in addition to the 2,000 that were approved the previous day, media sources revealed.
On Wednesday an Israeli government committee approved maps of construction in settlements to add 2,000 settlement units, the sources said.
Israeli army radio reported yesterday that 700 new settlement units would be built in the illegal settlement of Kiryat Arba in occupied Hebron and Oranit south of occupied Qalqilya, Kfar Tapuach northeast of occupied Salfit, and Ma’ale Adumim east of Jerusalem.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met yesterday with heads of local councils in West Bank settlements, describing the meeting as "comfortable".

Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth revealed that a large settlement scheme was presented in the Israeli Knesset on Tuesday and there is now a plan to build intensively in the occupied West Bank, to include about 67,000 settlement units.

The UN Security Council has adopted a draft resolution to stop settlement construction.
