Israeli occupation bulldozers this morning demolished the house of Palestinian prisoner Omar Al-Abed, near occupied Ramallah, after he was accused of a stabbing attack inside the illegal Israeli settlement in the central occupied West Bank.

The occupation forces raided the village of Kobar, north-west of occupied Ramallah, and demolished Al-Abed’s family house, according to Quds Press.

Clashes broke out during the demolition and some 27 Palestinians were injured as a result.

Palestinians in the village tried to block the movement of the occupation forces by closing the entrances to the village; however Israeli occupation soldiers climbed on to the rooftops and used them as “military posts”.

Al-Abed carried out a stabbing operation on 21 July that resulted in the killing of three Jewish settlers and injuring others in the illegal Jewish only settlement of Halamish, located on the territory of Ramallah, before being shot and arrested.

Amnesty International is amongst a number of human rights organisations which has condemned Israel’s policy of collective punishment, in which the families of freedom fighters are also punished for their actions.

Israel has increased its demolition of Palestinian homes in the occupied territories as a means of punishment. This aims at “harming relatives of Palestinians who have carried out operations against Israel or those suspected of involvement, in order to deter Palestinians from carrying out such operations,” according to the authorities.

The Israeli intelligence service has accused five members of Al-Abed’s family of knowing about his intention to carry out the operation without taking any action to prevent him. Israel said it will continue to investigate Al-Abed’s parents, two brothers and uncle for links to the operation.
